A success!
As of today, I have successfully not eaten an appetizer at a restaurant for a month! This is the third thing I've knocked off this list, and I'm quite happy with myself. I feel better for it, too.

My second failure :(
Well, it's a theme this week.
Today the failure is south beach eating for a month. It's just too expensive. Pasta and even microwavable meals are cheaper. So that's what we'll be eating. At least until hubby gets a job.

My first Failure :(
My first failure is "Enter Pentathlon" - the registration sheets are due this weekend, and I'm not sending one in. The reason is our finances. We can't afford for me to spend the money on entering 5 things I'm not even good at. We can't even really afford the money to go to the event. I guess I'll leave it on the list and hopefully enter Pentathlon in 2 years (it's an every 2 year event).
Boo!
Boo!

Cooked Spinach
As strange as this may be, I've never eaten cooked spinach before. I tried it today, with pine nuts and garlic. It was, simply, GROSS! It was as bad as it looks. I won't be trying that one again.

New Recipe - Indian Chicken
My new recipe for January is Indian Chicken out of the 30 minute South Beach Diet cookbook! This was actually fairly simple to make, and as advertised, quick. We made it without the onions and peppers, because Kevin won't eat either, which ended up making it really plain. I think if I were to cook it again, I'd make half for Kevin and half for me with onions in it. Give it some kind of kick. Anyway, this was basically a stir-fry dish with curry. I ate it twice, since we had leftovers. The only real problem is I got sick both times I ate it. I don't know what the problem could be; I know I'm not allergic to any individual ingredient. But I'm told getting sick when you first start the South Beach Diet is normal, so I'll chalk it up to the carb-flu and maybe once I get used to this low carb eating thing, we'll try it again.

Book for January
My first book of the year was The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I enjoyed it to some degree, but the end just seemed too forced to me. I admit it gave me a few laughs along the way, though, which was probably the point.
Overall I give it *** three stars.
Day in the Life
Good Morning!
Wake up to find... I have no voice! And my throat hurts! Well, that's a way to start a day!
Never mind, we don't need a voice to do homework.
Empty bookbag of books from library, don't bother organizing them, just throw them on a bookshelf (regret later!)
Steal husband's favorite mug to make chamomile tea
And on to where the bulk of the day will be spent...
First we need gas.
Aren't the dinosaurs cool?
It is a smoggy day though. Yuck!
Stop for lunch
In search of an appleTV... but they don't have it.
On to an outdoor mall
Where we find an apple store. With appleTV.
Husband likes the new toy.
I don't recommend Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs...
Season 1 Episode 1 of Glee.
Jack discovers a tupperware.
And to bed with the computer.
