A plum!

Every 2 weeks, the cleanest cabin wins a basket of fruit. This week, that was us and I got a plum. I've never had one before (I know, weird, right?) It was interesting. Not like "OMG What have I been missing" but I'd eat one again. *nods* This ticks off "Try 10 new foods" from my list. 32% finished - that's like 1/3rd of the way there. I may rethink a few of my goals now. And change ones I've definitely failed at, like having a level 80 WOW character since I turned off my WOW account.

Kayaking and French Dressing

I went kayaking with some friends today. We went down to Casco, and then had lunch and ice cream, and came back. We had planned on swimming some, but it got cold. Anyway, kayaking is OK. I'm really slow at it though.

French dressing, and peppercorn dressing, both are good, and will be added to the list of things I will eat with lettuce.

Creme Brulee

In the trying new foods category, we get creme brulee. I don't usually like custards. This one was weird, because I liked the bite of mom's that I took, then didn't like the bite of my own that I took. Mine tasted like alchohol. When I said that, Kevin took mine and traded me... his tasted better. But I only liked the top, I didn't like the rest of it. So I guess overall I'd have to say "meh"

I tried something I'd never had before today - an IPA. It's interesting. I liked it.

Chicken Vodka

Tonight I tried Chicken with Vodka sauce at Ippolitos. All I really have to say is YUM YUM! Honestly, I have been afraid to try this my whole life because who really likes the taste of vodka? But, I tried it tonight, and I'll definitely try it again!

Cooked Spinach

As strange as this may be, I've never eaten cooked spinach before. I tried it today, with pine nuts and garlic. It was, simply, GROSS! It was as bad as it looks. I won't be trying that one again.

New Recipe - Indian Chicken

My new recipe for January is Indian Chicken out of the 30 minute South Beach Diet cookbook! This was actually fairly simple to make, and as advertised, quick. We made it without the onions and peppers, because Kevin won't eat either, which ended up making it really plain. I think if I were to cook it again, I'd make half for Kevin and half for me with onions in it. Give it some kind of kick. Anyway, this was basically a stir-fry dish with curry. I ate it twice, since we had leftovers. The only real problem is I got sick both times I ate it. I don't know what the problem could be; I know I'm not allergic to any individual ingredient. But I'm told getting sick when you first start the South Beach Diet is normal, so I'll chalk it up to the carb-flu and maybe once I get used to this low carb eating thing, we'll try it again.
